Chocolatouring in Switzerland
Thanks to everyone who has been sending positive reviews and testimonials about Chocolatour. You’ll find many of them on my Amazon page for Chocolatour. There are also reviews posted on Chocolatour on Goodreads page. It’s fabulous to have reader feedback, and if you’ve read the book and have not yet posted a review, I would be very grateful if you did.
Some really exciting news is that we are planning a series of Chocolatours in which I will be your chocolate adventure guide! If you like the idea of travelling to exciting travel destinations and experiencing some chocolate travel of your own with me as your guide, please subscribe to this site for updates on what we have planned.
There’s truly no better place in the world to experience fine chocolate than Switzerland. Zurich occasionally is host to Salon du Chocolat, a series of international chocolate shows are truly the ultimate experience for any serious chocolate lover. There is unlimited sampling at the booths of dozens of top-notch chocolatiers, chocolate-making demonstrations, chocolate art exhibits, and even chocolate haute couture where you can see fashions adorned with chocolate accessories and appliques.
But a Chocolatour to Zurich at any time of year would be splendid. We will include visits to chocolate shops and factories, meet some chocolatiers, and do some shopping (Zurich is a fabulous place to shop for chocolate, watches, fashions, and more.) We may head out of the city and visit Basel for more chocolate and wine, and depending on the time of year, will ride the Swiss Chocolate Train and visit a cheese factory in Gruyere, and the historic Nestle-Cailler chocolate factory in Broc. We’ll then head back to Zurich and may even indulge in a chocolate bath! Chocolate spa treatments are an amazing addition to any Chocolatour, and I’ve heard there are some decadent ones in Switzerland.
I hope you’ll consider joining us for this chocolate tour (Chocolatour) if you like the idea of chocolate adventure in the country that consumes more chocolate on a per capita basis than any other country in the world. The Swiss really love their chocolate! It will be a trip to remember, and one that is guaranteed to produce sweet memories–and a lot of laughs, because after all … chocolate makes everyone smile. Let me know if you’re interested, and we’ll start making plans …
Switzerland? I’m jealous! I wish I could go but alas, I can’t. Still, I’m sure you’ll share your adventures with us and we can all live vicariously through you. 🙂
Hi Sherryl. Yes, I’m really excited about that group Chocolatour to Switzerland. I think we’ll have an amazing time! and yes, you can bet I’ll be sharing the adventure on this blog and thru my other social media platforms.
Here’s hoping I’ll meet you soon, when I have a chance to do some chocolatouring in Boston!
Thanks for sharing with us your wisdom.
What a fun trip. I can just imagine how much chocolate I’d bring back. Having a harder time imagining explaining to my kids why I was going on a chocolatour without them. 🙂
Hi Debra: There is adult chocolate and there is kids’ chocolate!
You’ll see when you get your copy of Chocolatour (which I’ll mail to you today — thanks for the order!) that my book focuses on the finest artisanal chocolate. This definitely isn’t kids’ stuff, although each of them do make special treats for kids. Enjoy! 🙂
Oh I’m so jealous of you Doreen. I bet you tasted every chocolate there is. 🙂
No way, Kathyrn! I’ve sure eaten a lot of chocolate, but I have a long way to go! That’s why I’m writing Chocolatour in a series of three volumes. It will take me at least 10 years to make my way around the world of chocolate. Will be happy to continue sharing my findings and experiences on this blog. I hope you’ve subscribed! 🙂
Congratulation on the Chocolatour volume I. Sounds very interesting and its one of its kind. Congratulations on this. I wish you the best. Switzerland seems like a great destination for site seeing and also chocolate. I wish to take part but perhaps the next time.
Thanks for your comment, Shalu.
Yes, I really do think that Chocolatour is one of a kind. No other book has focused on the travel component of chocolate discovery. We had an event last night and there was considerable interest in the 1st ever group Chocolatour to Switzerland. Perhaps we’ll do one some day in the future to India!
How exciting to see you are planning on leading a chocolate-based tour. If all goes well I should be in Switzerland for a day or two in October 2014, so I’ll be a few months behind you 😉
Thanks for your comment, Jeri.
Well, now that you have a copy of Chocolatour, you’ll have some great tips on where to find the best chocolate! I hope you have a great trip to Switzerland.
I love seeing your photos and reading about your chocolate adventures! 🙂
Thanks, Cheryl! It’s great having you along for the ride! 🙂
What a fabulous idea, Doreen. I don’t know that I can make this trip, but perhaps in the future.
By the way, your link in the second paragraph for Chocolateur.net takes me to a dead end. Is it just my computer or was the hyperlink not properly loaded?
Hi Luba: Thanks very much for pointing me to the broken link. I have now fixed it. Please try again.
It would be great having you along on a Chocolatour. I’m sure you’d get fodder for your next book!
You read my mind!
But your link is still taking me to a page of HTML notes??
Hi Luba: Maybe you need to refresh your page? The link to https://chocolatour.net is working for me now.
Don’t need to tell you that there is a lot of good chocolate in Switzerland. Started spending a lot of time there with my parents when I was five. So eating Swiss chocolate is part of my upbringing:-) Enjoy!!
Thanks, Catarina. This will be my 3rd trip to Switzerland, and my 2nd Chocolatour there. You’ll find the new Swiss chocolate to be less sweet than its previous incarnations. It’s much more to my liking. Cheers!
Sounds exciting Doreen! I’ve heard good things about Swiss Chocolate Train. I would really like to join the tour one day. Best wishes 🙂
Thanks for your comment, Salika, and thanks for always being the first to retweet the link when I make a new post! I sure appreciate that.
Yes, I sure hope we get to ride the chocolate train on the upcoming trip. It will be my 3rd trip to Switzerland and I’m anxious to make the journey!
Doreen — I’m not anywhere near Winnipeg but it sounds like a great trip. Talk about being a kid in a candy shop — this would the ultimate pig-out on chocolate!
Hi Jeannete, and thanks for your comment.
You can always meet us in Zurich! That’s why I posted the info on my blog. It would be possible to hook up in Zurich and take the Switzerland Chocolatour with us. How did you enjoy the book?
