Scattered Seeds Craft Show
Today, I had the pleasure of visiting the Scattered Seeds craft show & sale in Winnipeg. (For those of you in the Winnipeg area, the show continues tomorrow, April 19th from 10 am until 5 pm. Don’t miss it!) This semi-annual show has been running since 1995 and this year, has about 125 exhibitors, each with something special to offer for yourself, your home or garden. I’ve been to the Scattered Seeds show many times and each time, have walked away totally impressed by at least a few of the artisans and taste of the fabulous products being offered. This year, the product that won the highest approval from my taste buds was the Orange Butter Honey made by Bella’s Gourmet Honey (booth number 311) of Kleefeld, MB. The flavour is fresh and subtly sweet. Made me think of Creamsicle on a cracker! Price was a bit steep at $8 for a 230 gram jar, but worth it IMHO. You can make contact with owner, Bonnie Klassen on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/BellasGourmetHoneyProducts or by phone at (204) 392-9372.
As far as artistic talent goes, the winner for me this year was Brent Parkin of White City, SK who operates under the name Extraordinary Light Fine Art Photography. Brent’s images are awe-inspiring. The way he uses light to create a photographic work of art is second to none. But don’t take my word for it. Visit Brent at Booth # 354 if you’re able to attend the show, or check out his website at: http://www.extraordinarylight.com
Brent is an extremely personable fellow more than willing to share photographic tips about how he achieved some of these masterpieces through skill, luck, light and patience. I fell in love with the amazing image entitled “Katepwa Lake Opera” and will soon have it hanging along the stairway rising to my office. (Check it out on Brent’s website.)
Heather Robertson at booth # 347 gets a nod for making Winnipeg look great. Her images of our fine city are completely captivating and as worth hanging on your wall as sights from any European capital. I particularly liked Heather’s panoramic image of the Exchange District. If you’ve never been to Winnipeg or think the city possesses a boring cityscape, take a look at Heather’s images at: http://www.seenitphotos.com
